How to Use a Bead Tip
2024-01-16 09:34

Bead tips are great for use with silk and other bead stringing threads. We DO NOT recommend you use them on bracelets. Bracelets get much harder wear than a necklace, and the loop end of the bead tips are quite flexible and could come undone more easily on a bracelet.

Step-by-Step Instructions

You will need your stringing material, knotting tweezers, pearls or other beads, GS-Hypo cement and chain nose pliers.

To begin your design, you will want to tie a knot in the thread. Pull the string through the hole in the bead tip so that the knot rests in the tip. Make sure the knot is big enough that you cannot pull it through. Trim the excess thread, and dab the knot with a dot of GS-Hypo cement to hold it in place.

Using chain nose pliers, gently press the bead cap closed, and wrap the loop down until the loop meets the tip. At this point you would also attach your clasp if you so desire.

Finish the other end in the same manner. Of course this time you will have to pull the thread up through the bead tip before making your knot. Use knotting tweezers to ensure that the knot is tight and secure. To learn how to use tweezers to make a knot please visit the Handy Tips section of the website and click on How to Knot.
